Family therapy work can be very intimidating. As we explore the current relational problems and/or past intergenerational harms survived by family members; painful and traumatic memories can arise. Our goal is not to blame but to understand and name how the family can work towards healing via increasing connection, understanding and support.
Group therapy gives people the opportunity to experience the "me too" from others, which happens less in individual therapy. Being with others who have experienced similar feelings thoughts and events can increase social connection, identify additional resources and supports to improve holistic healing and our mental health!
